Actors Workshop- Summer 2010
Posted on July 7, 2010ANDREWS LIVING ARTS STUDIO 23 NW 5th St. Fort Lauderdale is offering a completely unique workshop for the serious student of acting.
July 12 through Aug. 19, 2010-
This is an intensive program with guest instructors, is open to young adults: 16-24 yrs. and will culminate in Showcase performances which will be adjudicated by theatre professionals and attended by a N.Y. agent.
This workshop will be based on Andrews Living Arts specialized program, ARTS WITH SCIENCE.
This is a new approach to actor preparation, designed by instructor: Robert D. Nation, guides the participants on a journey that focuses on the wellness of the actors themselves as well as their study of scripted material.
- The actor first concentrates on the health and safe use of the body’s instrument through awareness and sensitivity. Yoga based concentration exercises with the acting instructor are enhanced by a personal training instructor for aerobic exercises “in character.”
- While studying scripted material, the student will develop the “story telling” approach to interpreting lines and song lyrics. Actors and Singers will benefit greatly from this approach.
The ALA ACTOR’S WORKSHOP is scheduled in the evenings to accommodate the individuals with daytime work responsibilities and is offered in a 5 week session complete with culminating Showcase or in 1 and 2 week limited sessions.
The workshops are held four nights per week, from 7 pm to 10 pm, Monday through Thursday.
Limited enrollment of 15 students guarantees more 1-on-1 personal attention from the instructors. The 5 week participants will have the opportunity to be seen in a Performance Showcase at the conclusion of the workshop open to the public and invited professional guests.
FEES:

5 week intensive program – $695. (Includes the Showcase Performances) week session – $295.
1 week session – $195.
Private classes also available / weekends: $50. per hr.

ABOUT THE DIRECTOR: Robert D. Nation is a former high school drama & musical theatre director from the Northeast with 30 years in educational theatre; holds an Equity card and has Broadway experience. Many of his former students are working in the field as producers, playwrights, actors and composers. Mr. Nation is a professional director and actor and has produced international touring companies of Broadway shows with young adults. Acting classes with Mr. Nation will enhance your ability and build confidence.
