Andrews Living Arts Studio Mission Statement

Under the leadership of Artistic Director Robert D. Nation, Andrews Living Arts Studio is dedicated to sheltering, educating, training and shaping the next generation of artists by offering a unique space in which the bold entrepreneurial spirit of creativity can thrive.  ALA achieves this by providing four distinct offerings: Studio Classes, Rental for the Artist, New Play Development, and Performance.

Andrews Living Arts Studio Vision Statement

Andrews Living Arts Studio is the performance arts anchor of the newest Arts District in downtown Fort Lauderdale -  Flagler Arts and Technology Village. It is a completely unique and flexible space in which the bold entrepreneurial spirit of creativity can be nurtured and will flourish. Our goal is to use our facility to make the fine and performing arts accessible to everyone – to gain life skills through training and to enrich our cultural experience through performances.

Studio Classes

Children, teens and adults, may enroll in classes in every discipline of the dramatic arts focused primarily on developing the next generation of artists through a blend of artistic philosophies including our own “arts with science” program. Additionally, through a designation of non-profit (501C-3) Andrews Living Arts Studio will be able to provide assistance to the underprivileged to enable members to participate in performing arts classes and to attend shows/events at a minimal fee.

New Play Development

ALA provides playwright’s workshops in which new works -plays and musicals, can be developed through a process which includes a network of peers and professional supporters as well as adjudicators.

Performance

ALA makes it a priority to showcase local talent and add value to the community at large by generating productions from within our own programming.  We do this by producing three shows every calendar year, along with seasonal showcases for rising talent, and a destination for community events.

Rental  Space

ALA has a versatile space that includes elevated platforms, removable theatre seating,  private smaller meeting areas, and an atrium patio. We offer an innovative and evolving, flexible space  with neutral decor where businesses, community organizations, and various groups may gather to experience creative synergy beyond the boardroom, conference room or office space.

ALA features a “black box” gallery which includes a portable stage and studio classroom.  The facility is a flexible environment where artists of every age and medium can gather to display, create, teach, learn, present, and explore theatricality in all of its forms.  In cooperation with Flagler Arts Village, “Art Walks” are monthly events in our district featuring fine works of art by artisans throughout Florida and across the country.

ANDREWS LIVING ARTS STUDIO is interested in meeting and talking with qualified professionals who wish to share their talents with students of all ages here in our performance space. There is a resurgence in the Arts in Fort Lauderdale and the newest Arts District FAT VILLAGE located at NW 1st Ave and NW 5th Street, and we are excited to be a part of it. We’re all anticipating a huge celebration of our passion for the Arts in 2020!
