This informative 6 week course is offered to the beginning acting student.
An introduction to basic foundation skills will be explored. This includes understanding the actor’s instrument, some of which is made up of: relaxation, voice, body, emotions, imagination, improvisation, and analyzing text. In a fun and safe environment, a variety of hands-on exercises will concentrate on these topics.
The emphasis will be on freeing the actor by allowing him/her, to experience getting out of one’s head. The basics of working on text will be explored, culminating in an informal showcase to the public of the student’s work. The specific material to be performed may consist of original material, monologues or short scenes gleaned from established plays.
ACTOR’S LAB 2 – Intermediate/Advanced actors only.
This informative 6 week course is offered to students who have had some level of professional acting experience. A variety of foundation skills and analyzing scripts will be explored.
These hands-on-exercises include: relaxation and focus, physical and emotional commitment, voice, sensory, and improvisation. Possible individual exercises will be given to heighten the emotional commitment of the actor, implemented to deepen one’s character choices.
