Posted on June 6, 2010THEATRE CLASSES at ANDREWS LIVING ARTS STUDIO located at 23 NW 5th St. (corner Andrews Ave) has moved its 30 year operation, from the New York metropolitan area, to South Florida. The studio includes a small black box theatre space, dressing room, box office and atrium refreshment area.
CLASSES will be offered for Adults, Teens, Children in our new studio opening April 1 to serve the needs of the many talented artists who wish to pursue training in the performing arts.
FALL CLASSES NOW FORMING:
ACTOR’S STUDIO: teen classes designed for the aspiring actor, introducing them to various “methods;” ALA will help you find the right college program or professional school nationwide, then guide you in choice of audition material, character and blocking as well as the right questions “you” should ask at your interview. Build self-confidence with a coach who has sat on the adjudicating side of the table. (four week sessions -Sat. 10-12 noon)
AUDITION MASTER-CLASS: professionals from NY casting offices will offer this workshop for students at any age level. Live stage acting vs. on-camera style will be addressed. Areas of discussion will include: How do I audition for a producer vs agent vs director? What are they looking for? What roles are “right” for me? How are film and TV different from live stage acting? How do I get an agent or manager? Students will leave this workshop with practical knowledge of where to go and who to see in this extremely competitive field. Fall- Sat. Oct. 2 and Sun. Oct. 3; 2 – 4 PM
MUSICAL THEATRE PERFORMANCE: for the serious performer –study the “story telling” technique in singing the lyrics, the actor’s “role” as a performer, & the function of music in theatre. Students be introduced to and develop an appreciation for the evolving new musical theatre styles. This ensemble driven workshop will focus on individual discovery of the honest meaning of the material and methods to communicate that meaning in a musical or operatic performance. Four week sessions: Sun. 11 to 1 PM
DIRECTING and STAGE MANAGEMENT: taught by professionals in the field, students 21+ will understand the art and the practical responsibilities of directing or stage managing a play. Students may be working on a show already or choose a play from any genre as their project. The “art and the business” combine in these two important leadership roles. (four week sessions: tues. 6-7:30 PM)
